Draft plan could tighten striped bass regulations

On Aug. 6, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission’s Atlantic Striped Bass Management Board met to finalize the latest draft of Addendum III to Amendment 7 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Striped Bass, which is intended to rebuild the currently over-fished striped bass spawning stock by the close of 2029, as required by the ASMFC’s management plan.
The draft will soon be released for public comment.
