There has been some discussion in the news and on social media lately about a “black moon” that occurred on August 23, 2025.
Wikipedia says that “black moon” is an astrological term first recorded in 2016. It is a term not used in astronomy but often refers to a second new moon occurring in the same month. A black moon is not a lunar event you can watch.
