A new state tree nursery is aiming to reforest Ohio’s neediest areas with native species using state-of-the-art technology.
Since opening in February 2024, the new Buckeye State Tree Nursery has begun cultivating 500,000 seeds in its 10 “hoop houses” (greenhouses) and newly constructed production barn. Eighty percent of those seedlings will be ready for distribution by spring 2026 with the remaining 20 percent ready for distribution by spring 2027, according to an Ohio DNR news release.
