Minnesota’s grouse hunt off to a (typically) slow start in ’25, and good opportunities for fall turkeys

The ruffed grouse report after a week-plus of hunting is short and sweet. Since the heat has lingered a bit longer than normal at the start of the grouse season on Sept. 13, there hasn’t been much action, according to Nate Huck, Minnesota DNR migratory gamebird specialist.
“It’s just been so dang hot. … I think things have been pretty slow. I haven’t heard a lot of good reports from anywhere,” Huck said.
