Wisconsin’s Teri Jo Fendler may not be a bear-hunting expert, but she’s well aware that the Burnett County black bear she shot Sept. 14 is a once-in-a-lifetime trophy.
Fendler made the four-hour trip from her Wautoma home to Burnett County in September to hunt bears for the first time. After sitting in a ground blind for 13 hours a day for five days, her trip was about to end. Then, Fendler’s luck changed in an instant when a big bear showed up out of nowhere.
