Campbell’s Soup admits to polluting Maumee River

In a court document issued on Sept. 15, Campbell’s Soup Supply Co. admitted to some 5,400 pollution discharges between April 2018 and December 2024 in violation of the Clean Water Act.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was joined by the National Environmental Law Center, on behalf of the Lake Erie Waterkeepers and Environment Ohio, in a lawsuit filed in March 2024 to force the company to correct long-standing problems with its wastewater treatment plant.
