Great Lakes’ burbot in a state of semi-peril

Published: , in Outdoor News

The burbot is a species of fish that only a fraction of Ohio anglers have ever heard of, much less caught, even though they are widely distributed from Maine to Alaska, including many lakes in Canada.
Closer to home, they are found in all of the Great Lakes and throughout many lakes in the Upper Midwest. Michigan fisheries staff are concerned that fishing pressure on this fish combined with diminishing food sources are pushing numbers lower in multiple locations.
