In 2024, after hearing reports about wild turkeys with facial lesions and warts on their faces and sometimes feet, the Minnesota DNR sought to understand the cause of the problem.
“We decided to grab some and test them for avian pox,” said Elizabeth Baker, a DNR wildlife health specialist.
