Jigging up walleyes on ice can be a simple affair.
Drop a bait to the bottom, lift it, watch your electronics for that tell-tale flicker on bottom to rise, then watch your rod tip bump and set the hook. Those days are magic – catching ‘eyes “like they were sunfish,” as I’ve heard, and, at times, experienced. Yet, save for some of the bigger waters where walleye numbers jump off the page, 95% of your walleye jigging sessions will require some trickery.
