Ospreys rebound in Illinois, evident by expansion of breeding pairs

The osprey population in Illinois has grown significantly over the past decade, thanks in part to efforts led by University of Illinois-Springfield Associate Professor Tih-Fen Ting.
Ospreys are large birds that feed on fish, making them an indicator of stream and fish health. Ting and her team, who began work in 2013, have confirmed the number of known breeding pairs increased from 16 to 90 over the past decade.
