Commentary: Age of 12 has nothing to do with maturity to hunt

After reading Tom Venesky’s recent column and a few Letters to the Editor advocating for no tags for children under the age of 7, I want to point out another side of the story.
I was flabbergasted when I moved to Pennsylvania almost 40 years ago now and found out you couldn’t hunt on Sundays, deer season started on a Monday forcing people to take off work in order to hunt and youth hunters had to wait until the age of 12 to get a hunting license.
