Ice fishing on Lake Erie finally comes to fruition

Back in the fall when the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) made its winter forecasts, the NOAA Climate Prediction Center offered the usual ambiguous predictions that are not much better than a coin toss.
The Old Farmers Almanac’s overall forecast for the lower Great Lakes was partially right, calling for “above normal temperatures and lower than normal precipitation with potentially colder periods in mid to late December, early and late January, and early February.”
