Christine Thomas: First little cabin pheasant hunt without an Airedale

Published: , in Outdoor News

On Oct. 20, 2025, last fall, I received a text from our dear friend, Tuck Mallery, of Wausau, Wis. He had a young Deutsch drahthaar named Envy that he wanted to bring down to hunt.
He had purchased Envy from Vom Kürbis Haken Kennel near Rochester, N.Y., the previous year and gifted the young female to his friend, Spencer Eldrege. Tuck travels a great deal. So, they worked out a symbiotic relationship. Spencer takes care of the dog. Tuck takes her when Spencer is on travel. Sometimes they hunt together.
