Michigan researchers now have 56 moose wearing GPS collars, part of a project now in its second year to better understand survival and population growth of the animal in the western UP.
Earlier this month, 41 new moose were captured and collared, while two others that had been captured last year were outfitted with new collars. Included in the newly-collared group were 20 adult females, 10 adult males and 11 calves.
