Rivers and lakes are natural attractions for kids of all ages and are especially enticing to youngsters who enjoy toting a fishing rig and worm bucket.
John Peterson of Bemidji, Minn., was one of those kids.
“Like it did for many kids back in the day, my passion for fishing started in the early 1950s when I was 5 years old, when my mother would bring us to a dock on the Mississippi River not too far from our house on the east side of Bemidji,” Peterson recalled.
