Commentary: Some Pennsylvania streams should not be stocked with trout

Published: , in Outdoor News

This photo, borrowed from the Little Beaver Historical Society, was taken at the North Fork Little Beaver Creek in Beaver County, Pa. My father told me many stories about the great panfish and bass fishing on the creek until trout were stocked.
The Little Beaver is a slow-moving creek that the trout can neither reproduce nor survive in the warm summer months. If you put any other creatures in this creek fitting that description, they would be considered an invasive species.
