Nope, not Easter eggs… it’s northern pike egg-take season in Minnesota

The mild winter has prompted new concerns for Minnesota fisheries offices, particularly regarding the northern pike egg take. The state’s unusually early ice-out initiated pike reproduction ahead of when it normally takes place.
Craig Soupir, DNR Waterville fisheries area supervisor, noted that while egg collection for pike typically occurs at the end of March, this year it started in mid-March.
