Ohio’s gobbler forecast paints a picture much like 2023

A popular spring tradition since 1966, Ohio’s wild turkey hunting seasons begin in April. This spring, hunters will benefit from two years of above average turkey hatches, according to the Ohio DNR (ODNR) Division of Wildlife.
“Hunters can expect a spring season very similar to 2023,” Mark Wiley, the division’s lead turkey biologist, told Ohio Outdoor News in late March. “That’s all based on the poult data we’ve gathered. Remember, we want to look at the poult data from two years ago.”
