Mississippi hunter harvests rare red and black phase gobbler

Mississippi is home to the Eastern wild turkey. But colors of the bird can vary, as a hunter in the southern state found out.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” said Todd Peltier of Ocean Springs, Miss.
Peltier was hunting in Simpson County on March 16. There was an unusual gobbler in the area, but he had never seen it and certainly didn’t expect to encounter it while hunting.
