The 59th annual Wisconsin Governor’s Fishing Opener took place on Barron County’s 939-acre Rice Lake, where most opening day action featured northern pike.
As usual the event, consisting of anglers eager to get out on the water on the opening day of the 2025 inland fishing season, along with Gov. Tony Evers, DNR and Department of Tourism officials and the news media, had the opportunity to fish a different lake and with different fishing partners.
